From my 7 years of working within the property sector, I’ve learnt that one house does not fit the “bill” for our entire life. We change - ask yourself, are you the same person you were 10 years go? In fact most people find that where they want to live and what size of property they want to live in evolves too. Life circumstances such as moving jobs, growing families, catchment areas or retirement can all influence our property desires and needs.

Whatever age you maybe, you will be at a certain stage on your property journey from living with your parents to looking for that forever home. At the time of writing (January 2020), 431,695 homes are for sale and 202,916 homes are for rent, with an average property price of £396,449 (home.co.uk, 2020). This tells me that 2.3% of the 27 million UK homes are for sale and that deciding upon your perfect home is likely to be the biggest financial decision you will make. In fact the average person in the UK is estimated to move every 23 years (zoopla.co.uk, 2017), that's over 3 times in many people's lifetime.
