Spicy Talks 2019 in Berlin.
by Gary Howard

Q. What have, Belgium Post, Airbus, Phillips, the Colruyt Group, Life Art and the Precision Marketing Group have in common?

A. They all attended Spicy Talks 2019.

What a diverse bunch we are, but we all have a common goal, we want to work smarter to gain better results. We were all seeking new ways to deliver effective solutions to longstanding issues, each of us with differing challenges to overcome but we had all come up with the same conclusion – we needed to use technology to open up our services to a new audience and reduce inefficiency through automation.

In our case, we took our core services online; data, print and mailing services and built a solution to make a “self-serve” process through Precision Connects our online direct marketing platform. In the case of Belgium Post, a business with a vested interest to encourage the use of printed mail, they have created a fabulous tool to work within Marketing Automation platforms called Mappi - placing Direct Mail at the centre of the marketing mix.

Others have used technology to be able to deliver wholesale improvements across large organisations with multiple stakeholders, saving hundreds of thousands of pounds, dollars or euros in the process. The Colruyt Group, Customer Communications and Experience team have delivered mass customisation and localisation across their retail estate without jeopardising the brand values that they have built up over years with their in-store marketing.

LifeArt are delivering a fresh approach to the extremely traditional funeral sector who avoid change at all costs. LifeArt’s coffins and caskets are safer for the environment with 87% less greenhouse gas emissions and 80% fewer trees required to produce. They will, I am sure be a disruptive force for the good of the environment around the world.

What we all have in common is that we chose Chili Publisher as our smart template software. Like all technology it has its challenges, as all my newfound friends will testify.  We chose it to be at the core of our respective technologies and by default, Chili have become an important partner in all our lives. It is for that reason, events like Spicy Talks are essential to help us with the future development of our businesses.

I hope I speak for all of us by thanking them for going to the trouble to host such an important gathering.
